The Neymar issue continues to dominate the news surrounding the Brazilian national team, as the date approaches when Carlo Ancelotti will have to make a definitive decision on whether or not to include him in the Canarinha squad for the World Cup. The doubt remains in the air and the issue has become entrenched.
Former Brazilian midfielder Carlos Alberto commented on the matter on the RedNews podcast and showed his displeasure with the Italian coach's treatment of the Brazilian figure from Santos, compared to the treatment he gives to former Real Madrid player Danilo, who does seem to be in his plans.
"Danilo has fewer minutes played than Neymar, for God's sake! Am I lying? No. It has to be the same. It's for everyone or for no one. 'Oh, because I like him'. Then invite him to your house for a beer, for God's sake!".
"Ancelotti didn't say that Neymar had to play well, he said that Neymar had to be 100% physically fit. I understand that he is managing to finish 90-minute matches plus stoppage time, and he has a streak of matches like that... why doesn't he call him up?" he asked.
"I'm in favor of bringing in a player like Danilo, who will help with other things. But if he does that with Danilo, he can't say that Neymar will only come if he's 100 per cent. That's not how things work," he reasoned
What Ancelotti said about Danilo
Three weeks ago, Ancelotti promised a place in the World Cup squad for Danilo, with a justification that is what Carlos Alberto criticises. "Danilo is a very important player, not only on the pitch, but also off it. He will be in the final list of 26 because I like him and because of his character, his personality and his game. He can play in all the positions at the back. Among the nine defenders will be Danilo," he said.
