What is the real reason Dustin Poirier is retiring from the UFC?

Dustin Poirier spoke about his daughter wanting him to retire: "She hates that I fight. She's been asking me to retire. She was born into the fighting world. She was born on a Saturday when Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz had their rematch. I had a laptop in the hospital room. My daughter was a few hours old and we were watching a pay-per-view event with my wife, it's normal for her. So she doesn't think it's cool. Although she's getting popular and people at her school talk about it and stuff like that and talk about her dad, she doesn't think it's cool because she doesn't know any different. She was probably five or six years old. She thought everyone's dad fought. That's just what she thought life was like."

Dustin Poirier's Last Dance in the UFC

Dustin Poirier competes for the last time at UFC 318 on Saturday, July 19, 2025, as the fan favorite hangs up his gloves on the card at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA, in the trilogy fight between Poirier and Max Holloway, with Holloway's "BMF" title on the line.

Dustin Poirier hopes his last fight in the UFC will be one to remember and the Louisiana native announced that legendary rapper Lil' Wayne, who is also from Louisiana, will be accompanying him on his way out.
