He lost the title match to Jakub Mensik. As a result, he will drop 650 points in the rankings and lose his place on the ATP podium to Alexander Zverev.
The German, who will move immediately behind Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, reached the round of 16 in last year's edition, worth 100 points. Zverev thus becomes the third seed in the Miami draw, which will be held this Monday at the Hard Rock Stadium facilities.
