Instagram has launched a new update in which the application adds a feature called friend map also known as Instagram map that allows you to share your location with your contacts in real time as long as you activate it manually as this feature is disabled.
In addition to this update, they released something very similar to retweets on X (formerly Twitter) in which you will now be able to see the posts of followers that your friends share.
What is the Friends Map and how does it work?
This update comes as an idea to connect with friends and it allows you to activate the option to share your last location as a user on a map with the people you choose and it can be deactivated or modified by the user at any time
The update also allows us to open the Instagram map to see the content that friends and creators have decided to share with others. The location sharing option will be disabled until one decides to enable it, controlling the experience to their desires.

Instagram: A new tab in Reels
Instagram also presents "friends", a new window in reels where you can see the content with which your friends interact, this being a new way to discover new content through your friends.
To access it, tap the "Friends" tab at the top of Reels on Instagram. To return to the regular Reelsfeed, tap the "Reels" tab. Instagram is also rolling out controls for what appears in the "Friends" tab, including controls to hide your own likes, comments, and mute activity bubbles from specific people you follow.
