What started as a typical playoff reaction quickly turned into a chaotic scene that caused confusion. During Game 2 between the Colorado Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings, a glass panel behind the Los Angeles bench shattered following a surge of fan celebration.

A playoff moment that got out of control

The incident happened right after Scott Wedgewood stopped a penalty shot from Quinton Byfield, sparking excitement in the crowd. Fans began pounding on the glass it started to shake, and at first it looked like a normal celebration that would settle down. But everything changed in seconds when the glass suddenly cracked and then broke apart, collapsing onto the ice.

The glass fell directly onto the Kings' bench area, even reaching interim head coach D.J. Smith, who had no time to react. Despite the scare, he managed to cover himself and briefly head to the locker room before returning minutes later.

The game was delayed for more than 15 minutes while the arena crew cleared the shattered glass and installed a new panel. Players remained on the ice during the stoppage, in an atmosphere that reflected the intensity of playoff hockey.

At the time of the interruption, the score was 0-0. Play eventually resumed, and Colorado went on to win 2-1 in overtime thanks to a goal from Nicolas Roy.

With the win, the Avalanche take a 2-0 lead in the first-round series, which now shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3.
