The United States is back in the World Championship final for the first time in 75 years. They did so after defeating Sweden in the semifinals, 6-2, thanks mainly to the performance of goaltender Jeremy Swayman, who stopped 27 shots during the game.

Since many of the NHL's great stars traditionally do not attend this tournament, the United States has not won world gold since 1933 and its last silver medal was in 1950, the last time it reached the final. "It's a good feeling," said captain Clayton Keller. "There's one more game to win. We're going to focus on that."

"Each and every one of the guys contributed to this victory and I couldn't be prouder of our group," said USA head coach Ryan Warsofsky.

Denmark, who eliminated Canada (2-1) in the quarter-finals, will face Sweden in the bronze medal match. Denmark has never won a medal at the World Cup.
