Despite their history of close battles for the gold medal, these elite programs have not faced each other head-to-head since 2023. Both teams were scheduled to define the continental champion in Panama last fall, but inclement weather forced the cancellation of the final, resulting in a co-championship declared by the IFAF.

Now, the rivalry is renewed with the United States occupying the top of the world ranking and Mexico in third place. This duel serves as a critical prelude ahead of the sport's Olympic debut in Los Angeles 2028, showcasing the dynamic 5-on-5 style to the world.

Mexico meets Jon Gruden

During this Wednesday prior to the game that the United States and Mexico will hold in the framework of the Super Bowl, players from the Mexican representative team met head coach Jon Gruden, who is in San Francisco, at the hotel where they are staying.

In the video uploaded to social media, the former head coach appears interested in knowing the young players' positions, but also interacts with them before wishing them luck ahead of the game.

Comments on social media have arrived from the Hispanic side, but also in English, lamenting that Gruden does not have the opportunity to coach an NFL team.
