NBC will broadcast this Sunday from Alcatraz, the iconic island in San Francisco Bay, part of the Super Bowl pregame show between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots
Coverage of the game, the most-watched television event of the year in the United States, will begin about five hours before kickoff, with part of the broadcast from this island, known as 'The Rock', which until 1963 was home to dangerous criminals and is now a museum and tourist attraction.
Two-time Super Bowl winner with the Patriots Rodney Harrison, as well as two-time champion Tony Dungy, once as a player with the Pittsburgh Steelers and once as a coach with the Indianapolis Colts, will participate in the broadcast.
Alcatraz, which operated as a prison between 1934 and 1963, is managed by the US National Park Service and is part of the popular imagination because it was supposedly impossible to escape.
The Seahawks and Patriots will contest Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, the home of the San Francisco 49ers.
