A new Super Bowl champion will be crowned on Sunday, February 8. The contenders this time around will be the New England Patriots or the Seattle Seahawks, and, of course, the absence of giants is noticeable.

This will be the first time in three consecutive years that neither Travis Kelce of Kansas City nor Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles will be in search of a new Vince Lombardi Trophy. For that reason, their absence is not only strange for NFL fans but also for themselves.

Jason reveals his feelings about Super Bowl LX

Travis and Jason Kelce are the most famous brothers in the NFL and know firsthand what it's like to play in a Super Bowl, but also what it's like to lose one.

The younger of the brothers ended his 13th season with the Chiefs on a sour note, as they were eliminated from playoff contention in Week 15 for the first time since 2014, with a record of 6-11.

Meanwhile, the former Eagles center retired in 2024 after 13 seasons with the team and one Vince Lombardi Trophy. However, despite working as an NFL analyst for ESPN, Jason feels a great nostalgia for being the star of the NFL's most anticipated game. Or at least for his brother to be.

"It's weird not having Trav in the Super Bowl or playing in it myself," the older Kelce confessed to People. "It hasn't happened in a while," he added.

The truth is that both made history in the 2023 season when their teams faced off in search of taking home the Vince Lombardi Trophy, becoming the first pair of brothers to play in a Super Bowl as rivals. The "Kelce Bowl" ended with a 38-35 victory for Travis and the Chiefs.

Although Jason retired shortly after that game, his brother and Kansas City made it to the Super Bowl and took home the prize consecutively after defeating the San Francisco 49ers 25-22. That year, Travis also won in love, as it was the year he began his relationship with Taylor Swift, his current fiancée.

The story changed last year when, for the third time, the Chiefs reached the Super Bowl, but this time they did not take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The Philadelphia Eagles defeated them 40-22 on February 9, 2025.

However, with Jason retired and Travis not even playing in the playoffs, the Kelce's consecutive streak of appearances came to an end.

"So it'll be fun to really just enjoy the Super Bowl for what it is, not be as personally attached to it. Don't get me wrong, I would love to watch the Eagles or Chiefs in the Super Bowl, for sure - but that is not the case," Jason said.

He also revealed that they will be doing "things" from the podcast he hosts with Travis, "New Heights," and that his wife Kylie will also be doing her own thing with her podcast "Not Gonna Lie." "There's every major media company and advertising. And it's turned into a whole kind of convention in general for the whole week. So there's no shortage of things to do and we certainly have a full docket," Jason added.

Meanwhile, the Patriots and Seahawks will face off in the Super Bowl on February 8 at Levi's Stadium in San Francisco at 6:30 p.m. EST.
