Michael Strahan questioned Nick Sirianni's leadership after the Philadelphia Eagles' head coach argued publicly with A.J. Brown, however Tom Brady quickly defended the moment, insisting emotional clashes are normal between elite competitors.

Philadelphia's 23-19 wild-card loss to San Francisco magnified every decision, and the sideline exchange became a flashpoint, as the Eagles surrendered late control and exited the postseason earlier than expected.

Michael Strahan takes a shot at Nick Sirianni, but Tom Brady comes to his defense: 'They know how much they care about each other'

"I don't understand why Sirianni's running down there and yelling at one of his star players, A.J. Brown," Strahan said. "You know, A.J. Brown wanted to get involved in the game, I'm sure.

"They took two big shots with him, maybe he said, 'Give me a shot,' and the coach said, 'You had your chance, you better catch the ball next time.'

"But I don't understand why you do that in the middle of a game like this, because I don't think that brings out the best in your players. I think it takes away from your players."

Strahan added on comms: "I think it takes away from the attitude of the team and the energy of the team."

But Brady offered a different perspective, explaining, "They have a great relationship. Everyone always makes a lot of that. It's two great competitors in the heat of the moment. They know how much they care about one another."

Will the Eagles axe their offensive coordinator after 49ers loss?

The Eagles face questions about offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo's future after struggling offensively in 2025.

He replaced Kellen Moore, who left for the Saints, but Philadelphia failed to replicate past efficiency.

Philadelphia finished with 22.3 points per game, a drop from seventh in 2024, and Saquon Barkley's production dipped sharply.

Eight games under Patullo ended with fewer than 20 points, raising concerns about his play-calling and game management.

Patullo, who once served as pass game coordinator and associate head coach, benefited from Sirianni's trust, but scrutiny intensified after a Week 13 loss to the Bears, when his home was reportedly vandalized, signaling fan frustration.

Despite forcing turnovers and controlling possession in the wild-card loss, the Eagles' offense lacked explosiveness.

Hurts rushed for just 14 yards, highlighting the regression from their championship season in 2024.

Sirianni has publicly defended Patullo, dismissing speculation about removing play-calling duties, but the team's first-round playoff exit leaves lingering questions.

Wild-card losses are tough, especially for defending champions.

The future of Patullo may hinge on whether the Eagles can reignite offensive consistency in 2026, as Sirianni evaluates how best to balance trust, talent, and results for the team's next NFL Playoffs push as they look to rebound.

The 49ers, meanwhile, move onto a meeting with the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Divisional Game, which will take place on January 17 at the Lumen Field in Washington.
