- NFL. Giants to interview Kevin Stefanski for head coach position this week
- NFL. The strange comments from Jaxson Dart resurface as he tries to draw Madison Beer's attention
Another forgettable season has come to an end for the New York Giants, who, for the second consecutive year, finished at the bottom of the NFC East. The season also brought major changes, including the firing of Brian Daboll as Head Coach in Week 10. However, there is plenty of optimism, as the team has undoubtedly found its quarterback of the future in Jaxson Dart.
The Giants faced numerous challenges this season, one of the biggest being injuries to key offensive players. The first major loss was their star wide receiver, Malik Nabers, who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers. His ongoing rehabilitation has caused concern within the organization.
Another significant injury involved rookie running back Cam Skattebo, who was having a stellar season. In Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles, he suffered a severe ankle and leg injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the campaign. Skattebo, a product of Arizona State, finished the season with 5 rushing touchdowns and 2 receiving touchdowns, and he is expected to return in time for the start of the preseason.
Malik Nabers' status for the start of next season remains uncertain
There is no doubt that excitement is building for the New York Giants' 2026 season, especially with a new Head Coach and all eyes on Jaxson Dart. However, the question of who will be Dart's WR1 remains. It is unlikely that Malik Nabers will be ready for Week 1, as his injury appears to be more serious than initially expected.
Nabers was seen on crutches during the team's final game of the season against the Dallas Cowboys, which raised concerns for Dr. Jesse Morse. He suggested that Nabers may have required reconstruction of a second ligament or suffered a setback, meaning his recovery could take 12 to 15 months.
As a result, it is very unlikely that Malik Nabers will be ready for Week 1, and he may not return until well into the season. This could influence the Giants' approach in the upcoming draft. With the fifth overall pick, the team may look to select a new wide receiver to support Jaxson Dart, especially given the high probability of losing Wan'Dale Robinson in free agency.
The only receiver currently under contract who is expected to be available for Week 1 is Darius Slayton. After hiring a new Head Coach for the upcoming season, the Giants will need to strengthen their receiving corps. There is a lot of work ahead for an organization that appears to have a bright future.
