Just a few days into 2026, Taylor Swift is once again leading nominations at a major awards show, clinching the most nods at the upcoming 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards with nine total nominations.
The nomination list, unveiled by iHeartMedia and FOX Entertainment on Thursday, underscores Swift's enduring influence on radio airplay and streaming trends while also spotlighting artists whose 2025 breakthroughs have captured widespread attention.
Her nine nominations span major categories like artist of the year, song of the year, pop artist of the year, and pop song of the year.
But they also include a slew of fan-driven honors, highlighting the role of audience engagement in shaping this year's awards.
Leading the pack with eight nominations each alongside Swift are Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, and Alex Warren, a blend of iconic chart toppers and rising stars who reflect the diverse sounds and styles that defined the past year.
At the heart of Swift's haul is her 2025 blockbuster The Life of a Showgirl era, especially the single "The Fate of Ophelia," which returns as a contender in song-focused categories.
That song, which became a cultural staple through its chart dominance and viral moments, stands as a centerpiece of her campaign at the upcoming awards on March 26.
But while Swift's nominations may grab the headlines, this year's iHeartRadio Music Awards are shaping up to be a referendum on audience tastes across genres.
Fan power and new categories add unpredictability
Unlike many industry awards that rely solely on voting committees or commercial metrics, the iHeartRadio Music Awards lean heavily on fan participation.
Voters can weigh in on categories including best lyrics, best music video and specialized honors like favorite TikTok dance, a nod to the platform's influence on music culture, as well as favorite tour style and favorite on-screen performance.
"This is an annual awards show made exclusively for fans, celebrating the biggest songs and artists they've loved listening to on iHeartRadio stations and our iHeartRadio app all year long," said John Sykes, president of entertainment enterprises, and Tom Poleman, chief programming officer of iHeartMedia, in a joint statement when the nominations were released.
Fans can cast their votes through the iHeartRadio website until March 19, setting the stage for a final stretch of campaigning and social buzz ahead of the live broadcast from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on FOX.
Swift's nomination total reflects not only radio play and streaming figures but also passionate support from her fanbase, known for its coordinated voting efforts and social engagement.
Still, the strong showings by Bad Bunny, fresh off major commercial success and a Super Bowl halftime performance, alongside Carpenter and Warren, signal that the competition could be tight.
