More than a year since his arrest for an "extreme" driving under the influence offense, former Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy has learned his legal fate.
The 35-year-old burst onto the NFL scene as the 2013 Offensive Rookie of the Year, but his life has taken a dark turn in recent years.
In September 2024, he was arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona after police said his blood alcohol level measured over four times the legal limit.

According to TMZ Sports, Lacy pleaded guilty to extreme DUI, and the court handed down a sentence that included 180 days of confinement, a behavioral health screening through Youth and Family Services, and 30 hours of community restitution at an approved agency in his home state.
As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped six additional charges tied to the arrest.
This isn't Lacy's first run-in with Arizona law. In 2022, he was arrested for DUI in Scottsdale but avoided jail time, instead paying a fine of $3,259.
The 2024 incident, however, was deemed "extreme" due to the level of intoxication involved, and the resulting sentence reflects the severity.
From Alabama star to NFL Pro Bowler
Lacy's NFL career began with tremendous promise.
After leading the Alabama Crimson Tide to three national championships in four seasons in 2009, 2011 and 2012, he was selected by the Packers in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, 61st overall.
His rookie campaign was spectacular, as he rushed for 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns, earning Pro Bowl honors, a Second-team All-Pro selection, and the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
The following season, Lacy continued his strong play, tallying 1,139 rushing yards and nine touchdowns during Aaron Rodgers' MVP-winning campaign.
But by 2015, injuries and conditioning concerns began to take their toll. Lacy finished that season with just 758 yards and three touchdowns, and although he worked to get back into shape ahead of 2016, injuries limited him again.
After four seasons with the Packers, Lacy attempted a comeback with the Seattle Seahawks in 2017, but managed only 179 rushing yards over nine games.
Despite flashes of the star who dominated as a rookie, his NFL career never regained that early momentum.
The law catches up to NFL rusher
Off the field, Lacy's recent legal troubles have overshadowed much of his post-football life.
The 2024 DUI arrest, combined with the earlier 2022 incident, marks a concerning pattern, and the court's sentence reflects the seriousness of the matter.
Now Lacy faces the next chapter of his life under strict conditions, including confinement, behavioral health monitoring, and community service.
While his playing days are behind him, the hope for many is that the structured sentencing and support will help Lacy stay on a safer path moving forward.
