The first name that comes to mind when you mention the Cleveland Browns is Myles Garrett. While generally a quarterback is the face of the franchise, Garrett's otherworldly talent and production has made him synonymous with Browns colors and the team's logo.

Perhaps Shedeur Sanders can be that franchise guy in due time, but as long as Garrett is on the roster and performing, no one is taking that from him. The question now is whether Garrett will actually stay on that roster, as a recent restructuring of his contract has raised tons of eyebrows.

On Wednesday, the front office "modified language" on Garrett's contract. Essentially, Garrett's contract bonuses every year will now happen much later - right before the regular season. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Garrett also had $8 million of his base salary in 2029 and 2030 converted to bonuses.

Cleveland Browns say Myles Garrett isn't being traded

Analysts couldn't quite decipher why the team would do this, which prompted trade speculation. But the Browns have wasted no time letting everyone know that Garrett isn't going anywhere; at least that's what Schefter heard from the Browns themselves.

In reality, the new contract language gives Cleveland more flexibility when it comes to future free agency periods. Garrett's bonuses were initially being paid out during the free agency window. Now, since the payouts will come much later, the team should be able to work around their salary cap situation with more freedom. And Garrett will be there every step of the way, for now.
