- NFL. Jaguars hold strong on Travis Hunter long-term plan but he may have lost a key role
- NFL. Mike McDaniel got "stabbed in the back" by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross
Following the first round of the NFL Playoffs, the AFC North is in shambles. Only the Cincinnati Bengals, who yet again had a disappointing season under Zac Taylor, have a head coach in place. The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens parted ways with their head coach, while Mike Tomlin left the Pittsburgh Steelers in the dust.
With basically all four teams in a transitionary period, in one way or another, the division is up for grabs for whichever franchise can get their ducks in a row as quickly as possible. The Browns are hoping they can be that team, but they don't even know who their starting quarterback is going to be in 2026. Shedeur Sanders had an okay rookie season, but he certainly didn't light the world on fire.
Many believed Kevin Stefanski, who has been fired by the Browns, wasn't helping Sanders reach his potential. Whether that's true or not, we may never know, but Cleveland needs a head coach regardless of whether Sanders, Deshaun Watson or another QB is taking the snaps. Plenty of names have already circulated. While Cleveland tries to find its guy, the Ravens are looking to poach a Browns coach for their head coach position.
Browns DC Jim Schwartz interview for Ravens head coach job
On Wednesday, the Ravens announced that they conducted an interview with Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz for their head coaching job.
Schwartz is a beloved coach in Cleveland, having led an outstanding Browns defensive unit this past season. Schwartz has been with Cleveland since 2023 and is one of the most respected defensive minds in the NFL.
He does have prior head coaching experience, having guided the Detroit Lions for five seasons from 2009 to 2013. He wasn't very successful, going 29-51, but he did lead the team to a playoff berth in 2011. The Ravens are looking to recapture that magic, while also weakening a division foe.
