Sanders and Ward were once locked in a battle ahead of the NFL Draft. A year ago, in the lead-up to the NFL Draft, there was intense debate over who would be the first overall pick. Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward became the main protagonists of that storyline; however, as Draft Day approached, Ward began to separate himself from Sanders and ultimately became the first overall selection, chosen by the Tennessee Titans.
Their situations could not have been more different. Cam Ward immediately became the Titans' starting quarterback, while Shedeur Sanders was not even a first-round pick. Instead, Sanders fell all the way to the fifth round, where the Cleveland Browns selected him, and he entered the season as the fourth quarterback on the depth chart.
With the season now finished, Cam Ward started every game and ended the year with a 3-14 record. In Sanders' case, he did not become the starter until Week 11, and despite an up-and-down performance, he finished with a 3-4 record as a starter. What is clear is that both quarterbacks are currently going through difficult moments in their careers.
Kevin Stefanski to be interviewed by the Tennessee Titans
One day after the regular season ended, the Cleveland Browns fired Kevin Stefanski as head coach, largely due to the disastrous results of the last two seasons. Despite that, Stefanski still has significant credibility because of the success he achieved early in his tenure with the Browns, and he is now a candidate to lead several NFL teams.
NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN revealed that one of the teams set to interview Kevin Stefanski is the Tennessee Titans. While the process is still in its early stages, it will be interesting to see a coach who previously worked with Shedeur Sanders potentially take over Cam Ward shortly afterward, especially given the intense rivalry between the two quarterbacks last year.
It will not be easy for the Titans to hire Kevin Stefanski, as he is expected to be one of the most sought-after head coaching candidates in the coming days. According to Schefter's report, the Atlanta Falcons and the New York Giants are also expected to interview Stefanski.
The Titans were the first team to fire their head coach this season, parting ways with Brian Callahan after a 1-5 start that followed a 3-14 campaign in 2024. Meanwhile, Kevin Stefanski spent the last six seasons as head coach of the Cleveland Browns, compiling an overall record of 45-56.
