- Buffalo Bills. NFL admits mistake: Controversy surrounding Josh Allen's playoff interception reignites
The Buffalo Bills are on a new page as head coach Joe Brady took the podium at the 2026 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. While the event is traditionally an experiment for the league's next generation of talent, the primary focus for Bills Mafia remains fixed on their franchise centerpiece: Josh Allen.
Following the bad season overall and his subsequent surgery on a right foot fracture, Allen's health has been the subject of intense speculation and concerns. However, this recent update provided a bit more of clarity and calm that fans and other people have been waiting for.
Allen, the guy you never worry about
In his first official Combine appearance as head coach, Joe Brady did not hesitate once he was asked about Allen's recovery. He made it clear that the quarterback is not only in a good place but is going exactly where he needs to be;
"Josh is-he just played three games, or however many games that was... When a guy gets surgery, yet he was able to-when you guys see him in the games and not blink. There's one guy you never worry about is Josh Allen
This no blinking mentality has become the brand name of Allen's tenure in Buffalo. Despite the physical toll of a season where he absorbed 40 sacks, Allen's willingness to fight against chaos remains his greatest strength... but his greatest risk too.
His path toward recovery
His injury is certainly one of a kind, as it is specifically an avulsion fracture to his fifth metatarsal, so it was impossible to ignore by late January. Allen sparked concern across the league when he appeared on crutches and in a walking boot during Brady's introductory press conference on January 29.
However, the quarterback's own assessment of the situation remains optimistic. He underwent a surgical procedure to "clean up" a broken bone in his right foot, giving him a timeline of 8-to-10 week recovery window. He is expected to be a full participant in OTAs this spring.
About the injury, Allen shared this in January:
"It's a little painful right now, but it wasn't a crazy surgery. OTAs, I'll be back, and it shouldn't hinder anything
For now, the message coming from the team is one of stability. Josh Allen is healing, Joe Brady is leading, so the Bills are officially back in the hunt.
