The Baltimore Ravens are not letting this offseason to be a waste of time. Fresh off a defensive power move to acquire edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, General Manager Eric DeCosta is reportedly eyeing another blockbuster addition for the other side of the ball. The player they are chasing? Los Angeles Rams superstar wide receiver Davante Adams. Crème de la crème.

With the NFL offseason reaching a fever pitch, there are reports surfacing saying that the Ravens have officially checked in on the availability of the $44 million veteran. If the deal goes through, it would present a massive shift in Baltimore's offensive philosophy, providing Lamar Jackson with the elite perimeter weapon he has long lacked.

But why would the Rams consider moving a player who just caught 14 touchdowns? According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the answer is simple but repetitive in many offseason deals: the salary cap.

The Rams find themselves in a financial squeeze at the moment. Between the massive extension for Puka Nacua and the expensive contracts of their veteran core, Los Angeles has had to undergo difficult exits. Reports suggest that while the Rams were internally discussing the acquisitions of other receivers, they were simultaneously pursuing the possibility of trading Adams to balance the books.

With the move, Adams is set to earn $24 million in cash in 2026, a figure that becomes difficult to manage alongside other superstar contracts.

For Eric DeCosta, this trade is like an all-in bet in the casino, meaning that he is really sure of what he is doing. By pairing Adams with Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews, the Ravens would effectively eliminate the excuse that their passing game is the team's Achilles' heel.
