- Atlanta Falcons. Tua Tagovailoa reveals what he must do to win Falcons starting QB job from Michael Penix Jr.
Kirk Cousins is facing a period of uncertainty in the NFL, but he is making the most of his offseason by focusing on mentoring the next generation of football players.
Despite multiple teams evaluating his availability for the 2026-27 season, the veteran quarterback has announced the launch of the Kirk Cousins Football Camp, a program designed to develop young athletes' skills both on and off the field.
With nearly 45,000 passing yards and 298 touchdowns over 174 games, Cousins has established himself as one of the league's most consistent quarterbacks, boasting a 66.7 percent completion rate and a passer rating of 96.8. Yet, he is turning his attention to leadership, character, and personal growth for aspiring players.
"Looking forward to fun few days of football back in Holland," Cousins wrote on social media. "Our football camp is designed to help young men grow in their understanding of the game while helping them to grow in leadership, faith and integrity.
Competition is a great way to develop perseverance and confidence. Through team activities, drills and scrimmages, we help the campers develop their skills and their character. And we make sure they have fun."
The camp will take place in Holland, Michigan, where Cousins attended Holland Christian Schools and excelled in multiple sports.
He helped the football team reach its first state playoff appearance, laying the foundation for a professional career marked by consistency and leadership.
At Michigan State University, he contributed to a shared Big Ten title in 2010 and competed in the inaugural Big Ten Championship Game the following year. He graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and later earned an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities.
Married to Julie Cousins since 2014, the couple has two sons, Cooper and Turner. After being released by Atlanta, Cousins enters free agency with a strong resume, leaving teams to weigh how his experience could fit into their plans for the 2026-27 season.
Could Cousins be the Steelers' short-term solution?
The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly exploring options at quarterback, particularly if Aaron Rodgers does not return.
Analyst Jacob Camenker noted that Cousins could serve as a veteran bridge solution, providing stability while mentoring younger talent.
Last season, he threw for 1,721 yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions over ten games, demonstrating steady production despite a shortened campaign.
"The Steelers are still waiting on Aaron Rodgers to make a decision about his future," Camenker wrote.
"If the 42-year-old returns for another season, Cousins wouldn't be an option for Pittsburgh. But if Rodgers calls it quits, Mike McCarthy could consider targeting Cousins as a different veteran stopgap to steer the team. The Steelers were exceedingly patient with Rodgers last offseason - he didn't officially sign until June - and may give him that grace again in 2026. With that in mind, Cousins may not be willing to wait around to see if Pittsburgh's job opens up."
For now, Cousins is enjoying time off with his family. Rodgers himself commented on his own offseason approach, saying, "There's been no deadline that's been put in front of me. There's no contract offer or anything. So, there's nothing that I'm having to debate between. I'm a free agent and, again, I'm enjoying my time with my wife and enjoying this part of the offseason."
By investing in youth development and maintaining readiness for NFL opportunities, Kirk Cousins demonstrates a commitment to both his legacy and the next generation of players, ensuring his influence extends beyond the professional gridiron.
