March Madness is no longer a simple date on the calendar, it is a season of its own. For the 2026 NCAA tournaments, the road to the championship final is full of historic arenas and vibrant host cities, each ready to witness the next story of a champion.
Whether you are planning your trip or just want to see if the music is coming to your backyard, here is your guide to the host sites for the 2026 Men's and Women's NCAA tournaments.
The Road to the Men's Final Four
The 2026 Men's tournament officially tips off with the First Four in Dayton, Ohio, on March 17-18. Now, from there, the field of 64 spreads across eight different cities for the first and second rounds, bringing the madness to every reachable corner of the country.
For the first and second rounds, these are the cities:
- Greenville, South Carolina (Bon Secours Wellness Arena)
- Buffalo, New York (KeyBank Center)
- Detroit, Michigan (Little Caesars Arena)
- Wichita, Kansas (INTRUST Bank Arena)
- Knoxville, Tennessee (Thompson-Boling Arena)
- Portland, Oregon (Moda Center)

For the Regionals, we see more new places in the equation

The journey will finish at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The semifinals take place on Saturday, April 4, with the National Championship game following on Monday, April 6. Indianapolis, the home of the NCAA headquarters, is widely considered the spiritual home of the tournament, promising a fan experience like no other.
The road of the Women's Tournament
The 2026 Women's tournament is the perfect example of evolution and explosive growth of the sport. While the first and second rounds (March 20-23) are traditionally held at the home courts of the top 16 seeds, the later rounds move to high-capacity neutral venues.
The regionals are centralized in two primary locations:
- Regional 1: Spokane, Washington (Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena)
- Regional 2: Birmingham, Alabama (Legacy Arena)
Now, for the final four, women's college basketball will take place at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, where the only difference is the date of the semifinals and the National Championships:
- National Semifinals: Friday, April 3
- National Championship: Sunday, April 5
As brackets are filled and the flight schedules checked, remember that the venues of March Madness are just as important as the players. Each city brings its own flavor, its own cheering section, and its own slice of history to the greatest tournament in sports.
