Warren Sapp's departure from the Colorado Buffaloes left more than one person confused. The unexpected resignation of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers icon generated all sorts of speculation; however, an insider recently claimed that Sapp didn't want to leave Coach Prime in the lurch, but rather return to his roots.

After a nightmare season, the offseason hasn't been easy for Coach Prime either. Not only did he lose 45 players through the transfer portal, but his coaching staff also suffered significant losses.

One day before the program announced Sapp's resignation as pass rushing coordinator, defensive coordinator Robert Livingston and defensive line coach Domata Pekoalso left the team to make the jump to the NFL.

Although some fans and analysts have accused Sapp of abandoning Sanders, insider Uncle Neely recently revealed the real reason the former defensive lineman left Boulder.

Sapp's return to his true passion

In a recent interview on The Morning Run podcast, Uncle Neely denied that Sapp had simply stood up Coach Prime. On the contrary, he noted, "Sapp is an ambassador with the Hall of Fame."

The insider explained that, in this role, Sapp travels frequently. "Matter of fact, right now he's down there with the Miami Dolphins. They're about to have a fundraiser bike ride where they give all these bikes to kids down there."

He recalled that the former defensive tackle is passionate about charity work and asserted that "this brother sacrificed a lot to come into coaching. Something that he said four years ago."

As Uncle Neely clarified, Sapp is involved in multiple charitable initiatives, starting with his own foundation focused on supporting pediatric cancer research.

Sapp's charitable work

In addition to his work with the Warren Sapp Foundation, the former Bucs star is constantly involved in charitable efforts such as:

  • Urban Solution Group
  • Heavy Hitter Fundraiser
  • Mad Dog Fundraiser
  • Concussion Awareness Campaign

Regarding the latter, Sapp admitted a few years ago that he suffers from short-term memory loss and that he would donate his brain to medicine for chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) research.
