In reality, the Sanders family is living out the dream it set for itself. Deion Sanders got the opportunity to coach his sons in college football. Shedeur Sanders became the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns as a rookie. But a family that competitive always wants more.

For Coach Prime, that would entail making the jump to the NFL. That looks less likely following a subpar season for Colorado in 2025. But even if the league came calling, Sanders wants no part of it, and it's because of Shedeur.

Shedeur Sanders is the reason Deion gives NFL the cold shoulder

Deion Sanders is furious with how the NFL and media have treated Shedeur Sanders

With First Take on location in San Francisco for Super Bowl LX, Coach Prime made an appearance on the show to talk about all things football. In the spirit of the Super Bowl, Sanders was asked if he would even consider going to the NFL. His answer was as clear as it gets.

Not whatsoever. What transpired with my son last year? Ain't no way in the world.

Sanders took a dramatic pause after saying that, then uttered the words, "Thank you, Lord." Coach Prime believes he got some divine intervention to keep him from saying what he truly thinks about what happened.

Shedeur was the subject of an insane amount of media attention, a ton of which was mostly negative. Deion was likely furious with the way the media portrayed his son, and continues to do so.

There were also false reports that Deion wanted to be part of a package deal with Shedeur for a head coach-needy NFL team: They could hire him and he would draft Shedeur on his new team. That ended up being completely made up.

Coach Prime has enough hater and critical attention as a head coach in college football. Entering the NFL would only amplify that, and it seems like Deion doesn't want any part of it.
