An unfortunate incident occurred in the city of Louisiana where the mayor, Misty Roberts, was accused of having sex with a minor under 16 years of age, and it was her son who testified about the fact before the court authorities. Roberts, 43, was mayor of DeRidder, Louisiana, a town of 9,800 people and after the incident in 2024, she faces a rape charge.

The origin of the incident was at a party with minors, where there was a swimming pool and a lot of alcohol. It was there that Roberts was flirting with a friend of her son's, who was only 16 years old, and the two were seen "all over each other".
The mayor's son was the one who saw them having sex and that was the information he gave to the authorities. "Mom, he's 17" was one of the messages the son sent to Roberts at that party, where it was later confirmed that his friend was 16.
Roberts' son couldn't believe what he saw and also at that moment told his mother that his sister was crying about the situation, demonstrating a great irresponsibility on the part of the mother.

The authorities in charge of the case also had access to photographs and videos of the party in question, where Roberts was seen in a bikini and exchanging smiles with the minor who was abused.
Both of Roberts' children testified about what they saw and were part of the trial facing their mother. It was also confirmed that the victim's mother sent a message to Misty asking if she was pregnant, to which she replied that she was on birth control. Roberts was eventually charged with rape, so she faces a lengthy sentence.
