Kurt Cobain: Victim of homicide? New investigation questions Nirvana singer's suicide
Actualizado

On April 5, 1994, in his Seattle home, Kurt Cobain, singer and leader of Nirvana, was found dead. At the time, the artist's death was certified as a suicide following investigations by the coroner. Now, almost 32 years later, an exclusive report in the Daily Mail suggests that this verdict may not be correct and that it could in fact be a homicide.

This is an investigation carried out by an unofficial team of forensic scientists, who thoroughly analysed Cobain's autopsy, all the elements found at the scene and, at the same time, spoke to Brian Burnett, an expert in analysing cases that mixed overdoses with firearm trauma.

Burnett, after analyzing the evidence, bluntly said: "This is a homicide. We have to do something about it". Apparently, the evidence did not match an instant death by firearm and, in fact, it is believed that Cobain may have been attacked by at least two people.

Supposedly, the theory suggests that his attackers forced him to consume heroin and then shot him in the head, placed the gun in his arms and wrote a suicide note. "Necrosis of the brain and liver occurs in an overdose. It does not occur in a gunshot death," explains Michelle Wilkins, an independent researcher.

Authorities maintain Kurt Cobain's suicide

In contrast, a spokesman for the Medical Examiner's Office told the Daily Mail: "Our office is always open to reviewing its findings if new evidence emerges, but to date we have not seen anything to warrant reopening this case and our previous determination of death."

A similar stance to that taken by the Seattle Police Department, which told the outlet: "Our detective concluded that he died by suicide, and this remains the stance maintained by this department."
