One of the stars of boxing, Gennady Golovkin said that of his 42 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw in 45 fights, his best opponent was not Canelo Alvarez!

The story of this mythical trilogy begins with a draw between the two on September 16, 2017. Then, in the rematch and second fight between the two, the victory went to Canelo on September 15, 2018. The third and final fight in this series was on September 17, 2022 and again, Alvarez was superior.

However, GGG stated that "I wouldn't say Canelo is the best. He is a great opponent, of course. He's a very tough opponent, but as you can see, he loses". He clarified, however, that his remarks were referring to "the number of amateur boxers in my amateur career who didn't turn pro. Their boxing skills and boxing strategy were paramount. It took them about three rounds to figure you out and fight you with a strategy that leaves you no chance of winning".

Beyond these statements, Golovkin did not name names or clarify who his toughest opponent was. Or maybe he hasn't faced him yet.
