The United States Tennis Federation (USTA) is pulling out all the stops: the US Open winners will receive $5 million from the organization, in both the men's and women's singles. The tournament will be played from August 18 and will crown its champions on September 6 and 7.
The prize money is a historic record among all tennis tournaments in the world. It is a 39% increase on the amount received by the champions of the 2024 edition. Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka each took home $3.6 million.
The previous largest prize money in history was the £3 million (around €3.5 million and $4 million) won by the champions of Wimbledon 2025: Sinner himself, in the men's category, and Iga Swiatek, in the women's category.
In total, the US Open prize pool amounts to $90 million, which is also a significant increase (20%) compared to the previous edition, which was the highest in history at the time ($75 million). Just by reaching the main draw, each player will receive $110,000. In the case of doubles, each pair (mixed, women's and men's) will receive one million dollars.
Increase by double digits
"The US Open has made a deliberate effort to ensure that the percentage increase from 2024 is in double digits for all rounds of all events for all players, while at the same time significantly increasing the percentage of money for athletes who go far in the draw," the US Open said in its statement.
In addition, the tournament organizers are concerned with avoiding all possible expenses for the players: "The US Open has made an effort to help reduce the upfront expenses of all competitors in the professional and qualifying rounds. All players will receive a $1,000 travel allowance, as well as two rooms at the official hotel (or $600 per day). In addition, they will receive free strings for up to five rackets in each round."
