Social media has entered an intense debate about the usefulness or otherwise of programming professionals in the near future. Some argue that AI will be capable enough to cover this part of the job. Others, such as Geoffrey Hinton, known as the 'godfather of AI', are less optimistic and believe in the continuity of the current model.

Hinton does not disagree with those who think that AI can take care of programming, but explains that this degree does not end there. "A lot of people think a computer science degree is just programming or something," he told Business Insider. "Obviously, being a competent mid-level programmer is not going to be a long-term career, because AI can do it," Geoffrey acknowledges.

The godfather of AI values getting a computer science degree, as "it will be valuable for quite some time". This is something that Bret Taylor, chairman of OpenAI, agrees with. "Programming involves much more than writing code. Computer science is a wonderful career to learn systemic thinking," he said earlier this year.

Jon Hernandez, a Spanish AI popularizer, believes quite the opposite: "AI is going to do everything that humans do." That's why, for this expert, the key is to "know the shit this is going to hit us with and how I prepare or adapt to be able to take advantage of it and come out as well as possible."

In addition, he stresses that "we are facing a technological revolution that I have doubts whether in the future it will end up as a utopia or a dystopia". He even reveals his most controversial opinion about AI: "A religion is going to be created around artificial intelligence, I have no doubt about it".
