For the third consecutive year, the Giants finished as one of the worst teams in the NFL, posting a 4-13 record. The disappointing campaign ultimately cost head coach Brian Daboll his job, as he was fired after Week 10 following a painful comeback loss to the Chicago Bears, a game in which Jaxson Dart also suffered a concussion.

Jalen Hurts cannot find his helmet on the sideline

The bright spot of the season was undoubtedly the emergence of Jaxson Dart, who is clearly shaping up to be the quarterback of the future. From the very beginning, he proved to be the real deal. Despite not being one of the highest-rated prospects in the most recent Draft, the former Ole Miss standout made an immediate impact, restoring hope to a fan base that had been longing for optimism.

Dart's numbers were outstanding: in 12 games, he recorded 24 total touchdowns, 2,759 yards, and just 5 interceptions. He currently ranks second in betting odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, trailing only wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who surpassed 1,000 receiving yards and scored seven touchdowns with the Carolina Panthers.

Joe Schoen will remain in his position

Despite Daboll's dismissal, there was speculation that Joe Schoen could also be let go as general manager, a role he has held since the 2022 season. However, Schoen will remain in charge after receiving a vote of confidence from team president and CEO John Mara.

During a press conference, Schoen acknowledged past mistakes and emphasized that there is no longer any room for error heading into next season: "Early on, I made mistakes. I'm fortunate to have great ownership here where you're allowed to stub your toe and course correct," said the Giants' general manager.

Schoen's missteps were significant, including failing to reach a deal with Saquon Barkley, who eventually left for the Eagles and won a championship, as well as the four-year, $160 million contract given to Daniel Jones, which ultimately did not work out. Several talented players departed the organization, meaning Schoen's decisions will now be heavily scrutinized.

His next major task will be hiring a new head coach capable of further developing Jaxson Dart. In that regard, rumors are gaining momentum that Kevin Stefanski, recently fired as head coach of the Cleveland Browns, is the leading candidate.
