Omarion Hampton is stepping away from football for a moment after the Los Angeles Chargers' season ended abruptly, using the days following the playoff loss to rest and recover alongside his girlfriend.

Hampton and Lilly Heder shared glimpses of a beachside getaway on social media this week, a quiet change of scenery after the Chargers were eliminated by the New England Patriots in a one sided postseason defeat.

In photos posted by Heder, the couple appeared relaxed at an oceanfront property, soaking up the sun after what had been a physically demanding stretch for the running back.

The timing of the trip reflects more than just the disappointment of an early exit. Hampton's playoff debut ended almost as soon as it began.

Already dealing with an ankle issue that lingered throughout much of his first NFL season, he was limited to only two snaps before the Chargers' medical staff shut him down for the rest of the game.

For Omarion Hampton, the frustration was unavoidable. The postseason represents a milestone for any rookie, and Hampton had spent weeks managing his health with the hope of being available when it mattered most.

Rookie season ends with more questions than closure

Speaking earlier this week with ESPN, Hampton acknowledged how difficult it was to watch from the sideline as the game slipped away.

"You always want to help your team out when you end up situation, those type of games," he said. "So I mean, just trying to do everything I can to get back on the field."

That chance never came. Without Hampton, the Chargers struggled to find any rhythm, and the loss quickly turned into a painful ending to what had been a season filled with flashes of promise.

Selected No. 22 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, Hampton appeared in nine regular season games for the Los Angeles Chargers.

He finished the year with 545 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 124 carries, while also contributing 32 receptions for 192 yards and a score through the air.

His production often came while playing through discomfort, as the ankle injury repeatedly limited his availability.
