The possibility of Maxx Crosby joining the Dallas Cowboys has resurfaced after owner Jerry Jones acknowledged that a trade cannot be entirely dismissed.

While speaking about the team's offseason plans, Jones explained that Dallas is already deep into its strategy for the upcoming season. However, he made it clear that unexpected opportunities in the NFL can always arise.

"We're pretty far down the road relative to what our plans are," Jones said. "So while I don't anticipate it, I don't want to rule anything out."

The comments come after a chaotic few days surrounding Crosby's future. The star pass rusher from the Las Vegas Raiders was close to being traded to the Baltimore Ravens, but the deal collapsed when medical concerns appeared during his physical.

With the trade falling apart, speculation quickly returned regarding other teams that could pursue the elite defender, including the Cowboys.

Dallas had already explored the possibility

Before the failed agreement with Baltimore, Dallas had reportedly been among the teams monitoring the situation closely.

At one stage, the Cowboys even discussed potential compensation packages with the Raiders. One proposal involved a first round pick in 2026 and a second round pick in 2027 in an effort to land the standout defensive end.

Instead, the Raiders initially favored a larger return from the Ravens, which included two first round selections before the trade ultimately collapsed due to health concerns.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys moved forward with another defensive addition, acquiring pass rusher Rashan Gary from the Green Bay Packers to strengthen their defensive front.

Crosby remains one of the league's most dominant defenders

Even with uncertainty surrounding his health, Crosby remains one of the most productive defensive players in the NFL.

Since entering the league in 2019, the Raiders star has built a reputation as a relentless edge rusher, recording nearly 70 career sacks and multiple Pro Bowl selections while becoming the centerpiece of the team's defense.

His impact on the field is exactly why teams like the Cowboys have continued to monitor his availability.

For now, Jones insists that Dallas is comfortable with its current roster construction. Still, the veteran owner's latest comments leave open the possibility that if the right scenario emerges, the Cowboys could once again attempt to convince the Raiders to part ways with their defensive star.
