Over the years, Adam Schefter has established himself as the NFL's premier insider. His posts across social media are typically precise and authoritative. He is well informed, and what he reports is rarely questioned, until now.

However, on many occasions, fans believe the information he provides comes directly from teams, while at other times it is thought to originate from players' agents. It is in that gray area where the credibility of his reporting begins to be scrutinized.

Adam Schefter has now been accused of providing biased information during the 2026 NFL Combine, specifically this past Sunday, March 1. It is said that he shared details that allegedly came from a league agent in order to generate greater exposure for his client.

The situation that put Adam Schefter in a difficult spot

According to fans, Schefter showed a certain preference toward Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Carnell Tate, who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds. However, according to the insider, Tate recorded a different time -between 4.45 and 4.47 seconds- over the same distance.

Ohio State WR Carnell Tate, a potential top 10 pick, was timed by several NFL executives and GMs on Saturday with a 40 time in the range of 4.45-4.47 seconds. Although the combine registers official times, teams always conduct their own timing, and those measurements with some teams were lower than his clocked 4.52.

For fans, Adam Schefter's comment was highly biased

For a journalist, speaking the truth is what builds credibility over the years. That has long been the foundation of Schefter's reputation as a trusted source on everything happening across the NFL. Yet now, for many fans, he acted in a noticeably biased manner in favor of the Buckeyes' wide receiver.

Announcing that some humans accidentally stopped their watches faster than the real time is all time damage control lol.

One fan wrote.

His real 40 time goes to a different school so you wouldn't know her.

Another fan added.

Why do we even have the official measurements if everyone just uses the time from their sleep-deprived, the 58-year-old guy with a beer belly?

Said another one.

It may be necessary to ask Adam Schefter directly whether he made a mistake in his numbers or to read between the lines to determine whether that was indeed the case.
