Everyone would have thought that after the affair involving coach Sherrone Moore and a University of Michigan employee became public, his wife would leave him; however, life delivered an unexpected twist.
After being arrested for allegedly trying to enter the home of his lover without her permission, which led to police detaining him and taking him to jail, Moore surprised many by arriving at his court hearing accompanied by his wife, Kelli.
The couple shares three children, and all indications suggest that she has chosen to forgive his actions. Moore currently faces three charges related to the incident:
- Home invasion
- Stalking
- Breaking an entering
It is worth remembering that the now former Wolverines head coach was dismissed on December 10 precisely because of his relationship with his personal assistant, Paige Shiver.
Following the entire scandal involving the woman, the alleged attempt to enter her house, and the coach's subsequent arrest, Moore was released two days later after posting a $25,000 bail.
The case against Sherrone Moore continues
Authorities later stated that Sherrone placed full responsibility for his dismissal on the situation and allegedly threatened his own safety using a pair of kitchen scissors and a butter knife. According to the prosecutor, Moore told Shiver the following words.
My blood is on your hands.
.
For the former assistant, who no longer works at the institution, events may not have unfolded exactly as they have been described, since she has neither confirmed the alleged romantic relationship nor spoken publicly about this particular case.
According to The Detroit News, the restraining order issued against the former Michigan coach has not clearly confirmed whether Moore was the direct supervisor of the woman with whom the controversy unfolded.
Moore pleaded not guilty in January, and afterward his attorney argued that the charges were based on claims suggesting that a member of the staff sought some form of personal gain from the situation.
This Court is not confronted with a close call or a technical defect... it is confronted with a prosecution that never should have begun.
Ellen Michaels, Moore's attorney, made that statement while insisting that the arrest warrant had been built on misleading and false declarations. She later requested that the charges be dismissed entirely.
The legal dispute continues to develop as the defense attempts to challenge the credibility of the allegations and the circumstances that led authorities to pursue the case in the first place.
Meanwhile, Moore remains at the center of public scrutiny after losing his position with the Michigan football program, a job that once placed him among the most visible figures in college athletics.
What is certain is that the controversy cost Sherrone his job, and now he must deal with the consequences that emerged from the actions that ultimately led to the scandal surrounding his personal life and professional downfall.
