- NCAA Why Abella Danger stole the spotlight at Miami vs. Texas A&M
The elimination of Texas A&M from the 2025 College Football Playoff not only brought an end to one of the most successful recent seasons in program history, but also sparked a wave of mockery coming out of Austin from several Texas Longhorns players.
Even though Texas failed to qualify for the CFP, the loss suffered by one of its biggest rivals was more than enough motivation for Longhorns players to take to social media and ridicule the Aggies. Texas A&M fell 10-3 to the Miami Hurricanes at Kyle Field, a defeat that came as a surprise to many, given that the Aggies were playing at home and appeared to have everything in their favor to secure the win. Malachi Toney rebounded from a costly earlier fumble to ultimately become the hero of the game.
Toney's 11-yard touchdown reception with less than two minutes remaining broke the tie and sealed the victory for the Hurricanes, the No. 10 seed in the playoff. Mark Fletcher Jr. played a pivotal role with a career-best performance, rushing for 172 yards to propel Miami (11-2) into the Cotton Bowl, where the Hurricanes will face No. 2 Ohio State on December 31.
For Texas star defensive player Colin Simmons, Texas A&M's performance required no deep analysis. His reaction was brief, direct, and quickly went viral. On social media, Simmons summed up the Aggies' showing with a single word: "Pitiful," continuing the trash talk that followed a previous verbal exchange with A&M offensive lineman Ar'Maj Reed-Adams.
After Texas defeated the Aggies in the final week of the regular season, Simmons had already taken aim at the lineman.
"What's his name? I don't even know his name, he's a sixth year. ... He lost. He's a loser," Simmons said.
Former Longhorns players also joined in mocking Texas A&M's loss
Former defensive end Charles Omenihu celebrated the double stumble by Texas historic rivals.
"OU lost and now A&M. Great day to be a Longhorn," Omenihu wrote on X.
He was joined by Quentin Jammer, who leaned on sarcasm to capitalize on the Aggies defeat. "Damn Aggies!!! Didn't think I'd run into you today," Jammer posted.
Even Jonathon Brooks, former Texas running back and current Carolina Panthers player, made his presence felt with a minimal but effective post: a series of emojis that many fans interpreted as a quiet yet pointed jab.
For now, the rivalry will remain confined to social media, as the next matchup between Texas and Texas A&M is still 11 months away, nearly a full year for tensions to continue simmering.
