Team USA women's gymnastics dominated headlines throughout August. Their brilliant performance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games earned them the admiration of the general public and some fellow athletes, including NCAA women's basketball sensation Paige Bueckers.
From the gold medal in the team competition to Simone Biles' growing medal collection, the American gymnasts were on everyone's lips for several weeks. However, one topic in particular brought fans from all walks of life together around the team: the withdrawal of Jordan Chiles' medal.
An unprecedented series of unfortunate circumstances culminated in the stripping of the bronze medal that Chiles had won in the floor exercise final. An appeal from USA Gymnastics is still in process, but Chiles has moved on with her life, and along the way, she ran into none other than Bueckers.
Chiles won Bueckers' heart
Since the unfortunate episode she experienced during these Summer Games, Chiles has made the most of her well-deserved fame. The gymnast has already thrown out the ceremonial first ball at a New York Mets game and made her runway debut during New York Fashion Week (NYFW).
It was at this last event where Bueckers and Chiles crossed paths. The gymnast closed the show for Kim Shui's new Spring 2025 collection, with the Connecticut Huskies guard among those attending the presentation.
Bueckers didn't hesitate to show off the experience to her followers on Instagram, posting a short video of Chiles' walk, captioned with three heart-eyed face emojis.
Paige also had love for Suni
Chiles isn't the only gymnast in Bueckers' heart. The basketball player showed she has love for all team members by posting a photo with Sunisa Lee, Paris 2024 all-around and uneven bars bronze medalist.
As chance would have it, Bueckers and Lee ran into each other at another NYFW event, and Paige didn't miss the opportunity to take a selfie with Suni. The player captioned the snap "My queen," followed by a crown emoji.
Bueckers' sincere admiration for both gymnasts proves that even stars have their own idols and that, under the right circumstances, the greatest stars can also act like your regular fangirl.
