The investigation of the suspected kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has uncovered a thrilling digital trail.
As the search enters in its 18th day, investigators are grappling with data suggesting that an anonymous internet user may have been casing the family's private life and physical location time before the February 1 disappearance. According to analysis from Fox News Digital, an internet user may have browsed for Nancy Guthrie's home address in the weeks before of the suspected abduction.
Tracking her location
The data, released by the FBI, reveals a series of highly specific searches that appear to target the Guthrie family. These inquiries were not the result of the massive media attention following the abduction, but rather occurred in the weeks and months leading up to it.
The study shows that there may have been activity for Guthrie's address in the Catalina Foothills between June 21 and 28, 2025, originating in Arizona. The address may have seen activity again on Jan. 11, 2026.
Seen by the Ring App
This date aligns with a request recently posted on the Ring Neighbors app by a resident, asking for any video captured between 9:00 p.m. and midnight that evening. While Google cautions that Trends data for low-volume topics can sometimes include "random noise" for privacy, the geographic and chronological overlap has become a focal point in this case.
The digital footprints gain even more weight when paired with the physical evidence. The FBI recently released a profile of the individual seen in doorbell camera footage at Nancy's home at approximately 1:47 a.m. on February 1.
