The Los Angeles Lakers collapsed during the season, and they now sit with 11 losses so far in this 2025 campaign, which will come to an end on December 31. The night before, on Tuesday the 30th, they fell again, this time against the Detroit Pistons, with a very poor performance from their stars.

The Los Angeles squad has entered a whirlwind of negative results. Over their most recent games, they have managed just one win while suffering five losses. The most dramatic aspect of the situation is that their defensive shortcomings are taking a toll.

In response, Luka Doncic stepped forward to offer a clear self-criticism regarding the primary issue the team is facing, which has been the constant loss of possession.

Luka Doni's turnovers against the Pistons

In Tuesday's game on December 30, Doni committed eight turnovers out of the 20 total giveaways that plagued the Lakers. That figure is extremely high for any team hoping to compete for a win.

On that note, the player did not shy away from accepting his share of responsibility in the defeat.

Too many from me."..."Too many turnovers. We got to stop losing the ball.

Luka Doncic

Doncic said after the game.

With 5:47 remaining in the third quarter, the score was tied at 79 points. From that moment on, however, the Pistons capitalized on every Lakers error, pulling away and building a lead they would not relinquish.

LeBron James also committed turnovers, and that reality unquestionably hurt the Lakers in the final result. Head coach JJ Redick also addressed the issue.

Redick said, before adding.

Still trying to figure that out. And I know that's maybe a cop-out, probably is, but I do know that we have had a lot of stops and starts. . .we've really tried to play the right way every night and have the right intent," Redick said. "The flow of the lineups and rotations and all that has been challenging for everybody, not just the coaches. It's just a challenge for the players, and building an identity is difficult.

JJ Redick

We didn't get that identity until late January it felt like, then we had to shift again. So I don't think it's unnatural," Redick said. "I think that it's hard to figure out with this team right now.

JJ Redick

The reality is that after their strong start to the season, the Lakers have fallen into a serious hole they have not been able to escape.
